Nov-17-06  Chessdreamer: Played in the World Cup, but in the Swedish town of Skelleftea.
Jun-16-07  nelech: Instead of 21 Re7 , 21 Ng4 seems better

Open Defence: <nelech> I doubt it.. but I wonder if it was stronger to play 21 Nd4 threatening 22 Re7+ and then 23 Ndf5+ so Black would have to play 21 ..Re8 and after 22 Rxe8 Qxe8 then 23 Ndf5+ with more pieces in the attack... I see you like Kasparov's games very much..
May-04-16  Howard: Inside Chess made the comment that even though Karpov and Kasparov tied for first place in the sixth (and last) of these World Cup tournaments, their paths were very different.

Karpov played his usual cautious, prosaic style, but Kasparov played in his usual "spit and fire" (as Inside Chess put it) style. He had won positions in about ten of his games, IC said, but ended up winning "but four".

This game looks like one of those missed opportunities.
