IMlday: Nowadays the main line goes 8.♗xf7+!? ♔xf7 9.d4 ♕xd4+ 10.♗e3 with chaos.
Dec-08-05  KingG: <Nowadays the main line goes 8.Bxf7+!? Kxf7 9.d4 Qxd4+ 10.Be3 with chaos.> Yes, as in Shirov vs J Lapinski, 1990. I stopped playing the Muzio when i realised that Black could avoid the whole thing with 4...Bg7!. And even in the main line Muzio, 9...Qf5! may refute the whole thing.
Apr-26-09  number 23 NBer: Are computers that useful in these sorts of positions? They frequently seem to place too much importance on material.

After 15 ♗f6, I assume 15...♗g5 would be the idea, as 15...♗f8 just looks terrible. Then I don't know how White would continue. Exchanging pieces can't be good, but doesn't white have to try to hold d5? In this line it doesn't look good. I would repeat with 16 ♕e2. What would black's improvement be? 16...f6?
