Mar-02-20  tonsillolith: Ah yes, the well-known Drawmaster Schlecter, managing to squeeze out a victory from a relatively quiet game.
Mar-02-20  Boomie: Schlechter's Drawmaster tag comes from his early match with Marco which was all draws. Schlechter was 19 at the time. However his career did not bear out his nickname. For example, Spassky had a career drawing percentage of 56% whereas Schlechter's career shows 47% draws. Tal also had 47% draws. Spassky and Tal are considered fighting masters but not Schlechter. Go figure.

I think the drawmaster tag happened after Marco.

Schlechter also drew matches v Janowski, Alapin, Teichmann, Tarrasch and of course Lasker.
