fredthebear: Ten captures in a 15-move game!? White has a weak back rank and can't afford to go pawn grabbing.

  wwall: 13...Bxf3 was best

13...Bxf3 (followed by I presume 14...Qxe5) actually looks very good. But on the surface so did taking on d7 with the Bxf7+ idea till you played Kh8.

---

But the real question is...Why did White resign?

Apr-12-18  NBZ: The epaulette mate!

It takes a special kind of artist to play 19. ... Ke8. The kind of artist who would give up a certain win just to see an epaulette on the board. Alas they don't make them like that anymore.

  wwall: Geoff,

Looks like I was lucky! Good analysis. I think he was afraid to lose his queen or back rank mate. Another premature resignation.
