Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-23-04  Hidden Skillz: 12.Qf5 was greedy..Nh6 should have been played..nevertheless position still sux for black..
Jul-10-10  Travis Bickle: I think this is how Mr Spock would play chess.

Probably a matter of taste. After 13...Qxf7 14.Nxf7 Kxf7, Black has three pieces for the queen;, in the game, White simply regains the sacrificed piece. In both cases White has two extra pawns. Korchnoi probably just felt that the second ending would be easier to convert.

Dec-31-10  Sem: <Phony Benoni> Oh, thanks. You know, this continuation seemed definitive to me, but of course I forgot that White would invest three officers in his march to eternal fame.
Feb-11-12  BlackSheep: The mentor had a real whooping from the pupil.

Knighthawkmiller: 8... fxB looks difficult, but possible for black to defend.

Zak correctly rejected this because he likely visualised the following forced line: 9.Bb5+ Kf7 10.Qf3+ Nf6 11.Qb3+, which has the makings of extreme nastiness.
