Nov-21-09  raychandler: Korchnoi's first game against a Soviet player since his defection. I've read one source, maybe Keene, who said Korchnoi later said he considered 18.Nf2 to prevent Black's "drawing simplification". But Petrosian could have played 18 ... Rfc8 and decided where he wanted to put his dark-squared bishop, f6, d6 or c5. White still has to untangle his queenside. His b3 will be met by ... a5 and eventual liquidation of at least one pair of pawns. The bishop pair should hold the balance in either case.
Nov-21-09  AnalyzeThis: Well, these two guys played each other 72 times. At some point, I don't think they cared where the other guy was living.
