Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-26-06  Maynard5: It is a peculiar irony that Huebner, who lost the exchange on the black side of an English earlier in the match, here wins the exchange, again on the black side of an English. Earlier on, White's 12. e4 looks too committal. Possibly, 12. e3 is preferable. If Black advances with d4, the position then comes to resemble a Benoni, with colors reversed.
Jan-20-09  Paraconti: One wonders if Hubner would have fulfilled another of Fischer's predictions to be world champ if he had gone on to win this match and challenge Karpov in '81.
Jan-20-09  M.D. Wilson: I doubt it. Look at his results vs. Karpov.
Jan-18-13  lost in space: Nicely played by Hübner. His setup (c5, d6, e5, g6 Bg7) is now modern again, against the English, often used by Grishuk
