Sep-20-06  Uzi: Actually this game finished with the stunning 30...Rxf4!? Resignation trumps illegality in the laws of the game. White was bust regardless.

Yes, both players overlooked that 30.Ng7 was CHECK.

White resigned because he loses the pinned knight after 31. gf4 Rg8. An appeals committee upheld the TD's decision.

OOPS! (though to be fair Black is winning even if 30...Rxf4 is retracted and Black gets out of check. But as we have just seen - anything can happen in Chess.)
