Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-23-04  shr0pshire: 11. Ne4!! That protects the bishop, but the knight is left there hanging. This is a deflection sacrifice. White wanted to keep the bishop in order to sustain his attack, but consequently allows black a minor piece.

At this ponit white will give up the minor piece because it already got a minor piece for a pin a few moves earlier, and for the attacking chances that it provides.

Great positional sack!

Apr-23-04  Brian Watson: Not really a sac. White can't avoid returning the piece, which is the idea behind 7..b4. And white lost . . .
May-30-05  Kangaroo: I suspect that this was the same between Rashid Gibiatovich Nezhmetdinov and
Lev Polugaevsky.

Once I read in the book by Lev Polugaevsky about the ongoing duel between them, with the reference to this game and Nezhmetdinov vs Polugaevsky, 1961.

Apr-12-16  fispok: 53 Kh4 is a stalemate trap, hoping that he'll take the kt and draw. 53...f6! crushes this hope, winning back the other pawn, and leaving the Kt en prise and useless.
Oct-15-17  bcokugras: Is 32. Bxc5 better?
