Feb-06-03  refutor: pillsbury makes short work of caro's first caro-kann ;)
Feb-06-03  Cyphelium: Not a bad game. 7.- Bg4 cannot be recommended, nothing wrong with 7.- 0-0.
Feb-06-03  drukenknight: would anyone be tempted to play: 9...Qe7+ ?
Feb-06-03  refutor: i don't think it would be any better than what was played...after 9. ... Qe7+ he gets another piece developed with 10.Be3 and i don't imagine that black is going to castle queenside...
Feb-06-03  drukenknight: 10 Be3 Bf4
Feb-06-03  drukenknight: in Caros game 19...a6 would have hit the Q one tempo earlier and she does not have d3 to go back to.
Apr-24-04  rochade18: ...Kd8, 31.Qb8+ and mate 32.Qd6! I think 5.exf6 is weaker than gxf6. Though on the lower level it won't make a difference!

FSR: Caro's first outing in this database with his eponymous defense (he only has two here) gets routed by the great Pillsbury. Kinda reminds me of the fate of the first Gruenfeld. Cochrane vs Mohishunder, 1855

  sea7kenp: Actually, I see a Caro-Kann, Berthold Lasker vs Horatio Caro, Berlin, 1886. B Lasker vs H Caro, 1886
