Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-19-04  Kenkaku: Beautiful queen sacrifice by Pillsbury. This is probably his best game vs. NN.
Feb-19-04  TrueFiendish: Wow. This was played blindfold, by the way. And naturally he sacced the queen, not the bishop.
Feb-19-04  Kenkaku: Just a testament to his blindfold skills (Pillsbury is indisputably one of the all-time greats of blindfold chess). If you enjoy blindfold games, this one by Blackburne is perhaps the greatest I have yet seen NN vs Blackburne, 1871
Jan-31-07  Sibahi: This should end with # instead of +.

MissScarlett: The Weekly Supplement, p.11, of the <Leeds Mercury>, October 27th 1900, claimed this was one of the 12 games that Pillsbury played in his blindfold simul against the Metropolitan CC in London, that took place on July 12th.

Confirmation that it took place, as above, came as early as February 3rd in the <Brooklyn Daily Eagle>, p.6: <The score of the following very pretty little game from Pillsbury's blindfold exhibition at Toledo, O., was sent to Mr. Elwell by the champion.>
