Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-23-05  Vavilov: Is there a reason Shirov doesn't capture the rook with 42 ... Qxc6?
Aug-23-05  DutchDunce: No way I could have figured this out on my own, but CM gives the following: 42...Qxc6 43. Be7 f5 44. Qf6 and Black is in a heap of trouble, forced to take the bishop and then it just gets worse.
Nov-30-16  Open Defence: interesting game, do any of the current top GMs defend 1.e4 with 1...g6 these days?

33.Ra1 seems optimistic.. perhaps White thought she could get enough threats as compensation,

after 43.Bd8 of course Black should not play 43...f5 due to 44.Rc7 cutting off the defence from g7 forcing Black to give up the Queen e.g. 44...Qxc7 45.Bxc7 Ra7 46.Bb6 Rf7 47.Bxc5

These two have had their struggles.

Check It Out: Unusual game. Strange opening, kings vulnerable. Agree with <OD>, 33.Ra1 seemed optimistic. Those lost pawns ended the game.
