  plang: 4 d4 is an interesting little-played alternative to 4 Nc3. The tactical, theoretical line is the piece sacrifice 5 Ne5..Ne5 6 de..c6 7 Nc3. 6..Bf5 is Ivanchuk's new move; leaving the h4-d8 diagonal open for the queen. 14..Ng4 15 h3..h5 16 Bg5 is strong for white according to Matulovic. After 14..Ne4 the game is balanced.
