kevin86: Boy did the pieces fly in this one!! There was even a queen offer-white ended up an exchange plus a few pawns ahead.
Jul-18-04  Troewa: That Queen offer has to be a transcript error. There's no reason for black not to take it.
Premium Chessgames Member Chessbase has this same odd score.

My guess is that the sequence 30...Rb8 31.Nc7 Rc8 32.Na8 Rxa8 simply never happened; instead 30.Nxa8 Rxa8 as one would expect. But who knows, maybe it wa a bluff that Van Wely managed to pull off in time trouble.

Incidentally, crafty says that 32...Rxc2 is a forced mate for Black.

kevin86: 32...♖c2 looks good to me What does white have? 33 ♖e8+ ♗f8 and whit's knight and f pawn are en prise.

I'm guessing a typo.

ajk68: Is there a preference in the move order at the end?

Why not 55. Rb7+ Kh6 56. g4 Kg5 57. a7 Bxa7 58. Rxa7 etc. ?

Nov-08-09  WhiteRook48: 32 Na8? is weird
