Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-12-04  Orcinus: Barendregt used the Roy Exchange before this. Lasker championed it yet soon went our of favor for after 5 d4...exd4, Qxd4...Qxd4, Nxd4 black has good chances with...0-0-0. After 5 0-0, as this game, the threat of e5 adds tension. Bobby (there's only one Bobby) might have observe this or thought it up himself. Either way, he gets the credit for innovating this line for it was his eagle eye that saw it's strategic value.
Oct-09-21  Scuvy: Portisch, in his 2017 book on the Ruy Lopez, says he should have played 22...Rf8. The rest of the game shows careful play by White to neutralize all complications.
