Phony Benoni: A little problem here, which the online databases don't seem to resolve. On this page, White's 37th and 40th moves are:

<37.Re3> and <40.Rf3>

this is also given at 365Chess, NICBase, and PGN Mentor. However, 40.Rf3 doesn't make much sense to me.

We have another version of the game at Filip vs Portisch, 1970, which has these moves:

<37.Rf3> and <40.Re3>

which seems more likely. However, I can't find this sequence in any other database.

ChessLab, often the most reliable, has a third possibility:

<37.Re3> and <40.Kf3>

which looks the likeliest of all to me.

This looks like a case where we need to be old-fashioned and search something in print. Anybody have a good source?

Chessdreamer: <Phony Benoni> probably the tournament book of Palma de Mallorca has White's 37th and 40th moves misprinted. Portisch himself gives (Informant #10, game 45) the moves of 11...Qc5, 37.Rf3 and 40.Re3, Filip vs Portisch, 1970. also Black's 11th move is different in the another version.

Phony Benoni: <Chessdreamer> Thanks for checking; Portisch probably knows best! And I completely missed the variant on the 11th move.

I'll send in a correction slip and see if we can't get rid of the near duplicate.
