Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-15-04  Whitehat1963: Someone please tell me why this is over. It's not material, and I don't see the devastating combination. Help.
Mar-15-04  acirce: 21. - axb4 and White either loses material directly or allows 22. axb4 Qa7! with decisive threats. But 21. b4 was not the blunder, it was lost anyway (no defence against black's b4)
Aug-05-04  gmann: wouldn't 21. a4 solve the b4 problem (albeit crudely)? it still costs Hodgson the knight with 21...b4 22. Rd3 (to avoid 22. Rc4 Be6 losing the rook as well). but at least the a-file would be blocked and there would be some fight left for White.
Feb-21-09  KERESOV: After 21. b4 ? axb4 22. axb4 and White is crushed with the devastating move 22... Ra4! attacking the b pawn and planning to double rook along the a-file ... combined with Be6, White's position is untenable. Actually, 22... Qa7 also wins ...
