Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-09-05  fgh: Lost on time?
Feb-10-05  Cyphelium: <fgh> Perhaps, but playing out this ending against such a player as Smyslov would be a waste of time. To stop the threat of ♖d3, white has to play 31. ♖d2, but then 31.- ♖xd2 32. ♕xd2 ♕d5 wins: 33. ♕xd5 exd5 is a lost pawn endgame and moving the queen with 33. ♕e3 ♕xc6 is a lost queen endgame. White's remaining pawns are much weaker and his king is exposed. Black can soon push the a-pawn etc.
Feb-10-05  fgh: <Cyphelium>: Thanks for the analysis.
