Jul-12-09  WhiteRook48: 36 Nf6 will win
Aug-21-13  ughaibu: Not if black plays 35...Qf7!
Aug-21-13  Zugzwangovich: I don't see any defence to 36 Ng5. Mebbe there ain't one?
Aug-21-13  ughaibu: Again: 35...Qf7! 36.Ng5 Qg6!! 37.resigns
Aug-21-13  Zugzwangovich: Sorry. I meant 35...Qf7 36.ef Rg anywhere 37.Ng5 looked uncomfortable for Black. But you're right; the interpolation of 36.ef is a key move.
Aug-22-13  ughaibu: Of course, my resource only works in postal play.

beatgiant: I think 35...Qd8 is worth a shot, so 36. Nf6 Qd4+ and it's not immediately obvious how White avoids the annoying queen checks.

But then at least 35...Qd8 36. Nd6 looks good enough for a quick win.

carpovius: Tempo, tempo, tempo... In middlegame Spassky played about 20 moves with tempo. Craziest tempo game I've ever seen!
Jun-27-20  Howard: Interesting point ! You’re quite correct.
