Feb-05-05  Granite: Two nice sacrifices by Lasker, one to win the exchange and then finally the rook for mate. It's an interesting game to watch as you see Lasker protect against whites threats very accurately until he's given a change to take control of the game. I really enjoyed this one.
Feb-05-05  like a GM: Lasker's rooks' activity won the game (35..Bxg2!)

  Chessical: <32.f4> seems to keep matters equal. 32.f4 exf4 33.Bxd5 Rxd5 34.gxf4 Bc6 (but not 34...Rxa5? 35.f5! Nf8 36.Qg3)

<33.Bxb4> is better, 33...Nxb4 34.Nxb4 Rxd4 35.Qc3 Bxg2 36.Kxg2 Rxb4 37.Bxa6 Qd5+ 38.Kg1 Qxa5 39.Re4 and White is still in the game.

Mar-01-08  Knight13: 63...Qf3 would just slow down things down after 64. Qf5+.
Oct-21-08  blacksburg: is this the first "meran" game?
Sep-17-10  soothsayer8: What a flashy finish to the WC match, Lasker really could do it all.
Jan-10-12  AVRO38: <is this the first "meran" game?>

It has "meran" elements to it but white's 4th move makes it a clear non-meran game. The first such game appears to be:

Schlechter vs J Perlis, 1906

Jan-10-12  AnalyzeThis: In the opening, Lasker had two powerful bishops lined up on white's kingside. I really didn't see any threats that white was making.
Aug-13-13  victor antoni: todo un artista otra vez lasker ganando... esta mentalizado para ganar!!!!!!! pienso que antes de cada partida el se mentalizaba voy a ganar y ganar una y otra vez en el espejo!!!!!!!!!!!
May-02-16  Albion 1959: From move 55 Steinitz played the rest of the game like a cheapo computer. A rook down, but carries on until finally being checkmated !!
Jan-11-18  TheFocus: The game-score here is incorrect after 59.Kg2. The game simply ended with 59...Nh4+ and White resigned.

Mason's notes in <British Chess Magazine>, April 1897, pg. 144-145: <If 60.Kxh1 Qd1+ 61.Kh2 Qf3 62.Qf5+ Nxf5 63.gxf5, and Black can advance his h-pawn (permitting White to Queen), winning.>
