Dec-30-04  Whitehat1963: Interesting game, but I can't see the finish.

tpstar: The threat is 60. h4# so Black loses the Queen.
Dec-30-04  Whitehat1963: Thanks! <tpstar>, beautiful ending from our player of the day, don't you think so?

  tpstar: <Whitehat1963> The entire finish is mind-boggling! After 52. Re7+ Kg6 53. Nh5! it's surprising that Black has no better use for the 2 Queens than 53 ... Qxe7, although notice he avoided the traps 57 ... Qd4?? 58. Ne6+ and 57 ... Qf6?? 58. h4+ Kh6 59. Re6. Had Black seen the swindle coming, he would have retreated with 56 ... Kf7 instead (57. Nxd5?? Qh1+) and Black retains the better chances in this endgame.
Dec-30-04  aw1988: 58...a5?? loses. Which is a real pity, because black had a won game with Kf6 (or Kg6, Kh6 or some other moves).
Oct-15-14  Zhbugnoimt: Yeah this was great play by Glavina, not Topalov. I play KID as Black so Glavina's play is something i will learn from.
