May-12-04  Sadgrinner: Hmm...why does black win given this final position? Is this a time issue? If so, where do I look to find out if a side won for time reasons - because I've seen this sort of thing in other games as well. Please enlighten me!
May-12-04  Lawrence: <Sadg>, Junior suggests that White is over 6 pawns up so we must conclude that either the gamescore is wrong or incomplete or, as you suggest, White's flag fell. If it's the latter, no way of finding out unless someone has some info in a book.

tpstar: Black loses a full Rook after 22 ... Qc7/Qc8/Qb6 23. Nxb7 Qxb7 24. Bxd5+, so the most likely scenario is how the game score is correct but the result was entered incorrectly (1-0).
May-12-04  Lawrence: Not that it changes the result but while I was writing my post and reading <tpstar>'s Junior came up with the surprising

22......♖ae8
23.♘xc6 dxc6
24.♕c4 ♗d6
25.♗f4 ♖e4
26.♗xe4 ♖xe4 eval +7.56

Black gives away its Queen like that because the other lines are even worse!

May-14-04  Whitehat1963: <Chessgames.com> Are you sure the game score is correct? Looks like white wins this one, as pointed out above.

chessgames.com: OK, this is fixed now.
Apr-19-05  paladin at large: Is 17. Be4 the winning move? Black's knight just gets unhappier and unhappier. Very fine maneuvering and coordination of pieces by Torre. 7.....b4 and 14. ....exf5 look like bad moves by Spielmann.
