Eggman: It looks like 27...Qxe6 was indeed an extraordinary, colossal blunder, NS.
May-28-04  zb2cr: Nice to know that a player like Hans Kmoch can make a one-move blunder like that. Makes me feel a little better about all the games I've lost by one-move blunders of that type!
May-28-04  weirdoid: Speaking of exchange of blunders between two grandmasters, you might like the following: Gheorghiu vs. Hulak 1982 Gheorghiu vs K Hulak, 1982. Note that back in 1982, 2490 was pretty much the rating of an average GM. My uncle actually watched that game live - and he still remembers it now for its three last moves. Enjoy!
Jun-02-04  zb2cr: What's truly ironic is that if Black played the correct 27...Nxe6; 28 Qxe6+ (I think this is forced by the vulnerable back rank), 28...Qxe6; 29 Nxe6, Kf7 I think he might have been able to draw.
Apr-05-12  bengalcat47: I'm just wondering if Kmoch inadvertently touched his Queen, which would then have forced him to use it to capture the White Bishop.
