Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-27-15  zydeco: Tremendous win for Gligoric!

He sacrifices two pawns out of the opening -- with 11....a3 and 14....Nd4!? -- calculating that he can win back the material.

The rook would be trapped after 30.Rxd6 Bc7 and it doesn't work to try 31.c5 Bxd6 32.cxd6 Bd7 33.Ne5 Rd8.

The game's close to even for a long time and then Gligoric gains ground with another pawn sacrifice -- 45....Bd7.

White sets a trap with 51.Rb8: if 51....Kxg4? 52.Rg8+ Kh3 53.Bf1 or 51....Rxg4? 52.Rg8+ Kh5 53.Be2. Although I think white has much better chances with 51.c5.

Jul-27-15  paul1959: if 51 c5 Rg3 and Re3#
