Apr-26-04  Vischer: Chessgames.com, shouldn't the opening be King's Indian Attack (A07)? I mean just cuz it's Michael Basman doesn't mean it <has> to be uncommon opening; here he played the KIA
Jun-02-04  Cerebrate2006: Very good point, this game follows one of the few lines i know of the KIA, actually i think it could not be mistaken for anything else. Stop being biased just cuz it is the king of uncommon openings
Nov-22-17  NBZ: The position after 38. b6 is rather interesting. I thought maybe Black has a shot with 38. ... h4 (instead of Rb2 as in the game) 39. b7 h3 40. b8=Q+ Kf7. Now Black threatens hxg2#; 41. Bxf3? leads to mate soon; and 41. Bxh3? is met by Rh2#.

White however has the stunning move (thanks Stockfish) 41. Bf2!! If 41. ... Rxf2 42. Qa7+ picks off the rook.

Still Bf2 is a tough move to find for someone with a non-silicon brain. I reckon Basman should have tried this line!
