  plang: 10 b4 had been played in a 1981 correspondence game; 10 cxd was new. 16 f4?..Nxf4 17 exf..Nf3+ 18 Kf1..Nd4 would have been winning for Black. White quickly got into trouble after 19 Rd1?; instead White should have considered either 19 Bxd3..cxd 20 Qxd3..Red8 with compensation for the pawn or 19 Rg4. Several alternatives would also have been losing for White: 21 Bxe3..Nxe3+ 22 fxe..Qxg3 or 21 Bc3..g6 22 Bxd3..cxd 23 Qb3 (23 Rxd3?..Qc4) 23..Rd8 24 Qxb7..Re7 25 Qa6..Nxc3 26 bxc..d2.
