  plang: 14 Qg3 had been played in the draw Svidler-Baklan 2000 Istanbul Olympiad; 14 Be2 was new. 17 exd..Bxc3 18 dxe..Qf5 does not look like it would have been promising for White. 21..dxe 22 f5..Bd7 with a sharp game would have been OK for Black. Played in the 12th (of 13) rounds - this game helped earn Ponomariov a share of first with Sutovsky while taking Milov out of contention for first.
