Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-14-02  Sylvester: A very recent Gligoric game from the 2001 Yugoslavian championship. After 16. h4 he suggests 16…h6 to allow 17…g5. The book has 130 games dating from 1939 to 2001.
Dec-14-02  Vilkacis: I have to salute anyone who played chess at such a high level (or any level) in eight different decades.
Dec-14-02  Vilkacis: How common is 8. Qh5?
Dec-14-02  Kulla Tierchen: It is not at all common. After 1. d4 e6 2. e4 d5 3. Nc3 Nf6 4. Bg5 Be7 5. e5 Nfd7 6. Bxe7 Qxe7 7. f4 a6 the most common move by far is 8. Nf3. It comes up in 76 of the 85 games in opening explorer and ranges from 1866-2002. By contrast 8. Qh5 appears only five times.
