FSR: The Pryce was right in this game.
Feb-19-22  Scuvy: From the tournament book Hastings 1934-35, edited by James Schroeder: "A disappointment for one of the truly great gentlemen who was also a superb sportsman...When I sent Thomas a copy of my book of the AVRO 1938 Tournament he sent me a thank-you note."

MissScarlett: He sent Thomas the tournament book three years before it was played?
Apr-24-22  Granny O Doul: I presume Schroeder put the collection together some time well after the tournament was played. His obituary here recounts his multifarious involvement in chess: . It also reports that he often struggled financially and I seem to remember a weird episode in the 1990s stemming from one such instance. I see nothing about it online, though, so I'll leave it at that in case my memory is off (anyway, it was nothing nefarious).
