Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-14-07  Maynard5: Black resigned without waiting for 34. Rh7+ Bxh7 35. Qxd5. But even before this, Milner-Barry conduct of the game leaves something to be desired. His position becomes very passive after 15. ... b6 and 16. ... Bb7, after which the bishop has no scope. The attempted tactical breakout with 19. ... c5 allows White to win material, while easily obstructing the passed pawn on the c-file. Even before the final mistake, White's active pieces and threats on the seventh rank are decisive.
Aug-14-07  Aspirador: 27...Bxe4! 28.Nxe4 Nb2! and Black wins. 27...Nb2? was a mistake.
Aug-14-07  Maynard5: Aspirador, you are quite correct. Both players apparently overlooked this tactical finesse. This in turn suggests that White's 21. b5 was a mistake, allowing Black to advance the c-pawn. Stronger would have been 21. Rac1.
