Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-16-03  caballos2: A typical Ulvestad: black develops quickly and if white doesn't look out he is crushed

  Eggman: May the Bettermann lose.
Mar-07-09  Smothered Mate: I believe 6. Bf1 is correct.
Mar-07-09  dzechiel: What about 7 Nc3 Qxg2 8 Qf3 Qxf3 9 Nxf3, is that playable?
Mar-07-09  arnaud1959: <dzechiel: What about 7 Nc3 Qxg2 8 Qf3 Qxf3 9 Nxf3, is that playable?> I don't know well this opening but it seems to me that after 9.-♗d7 Black has recovered the pawn with a good position as after 10.♗xc6 ♗xc6 ♘f3 is pinned.

whiteshark: <May the Bettermann Lose> LOL
Mar-07-09  outplayer: I will add this variation to my repertoire. It's a very interesting counterattack.
Mar-07-09  WhiteRook48: crazy pun!
Mar-07-09  JG27Pyth: Is there some tactical point to Rg8 that really finishes this game or does Betterman just look at the board and say -- I'm a piece down there's no counterplay who am I kidding it's time to resign?

kevin86: A guess at least for this night,Bettermann was not the better man-not much elsewhere either. He is a mere 2-5-1 on this database.
Mar-07-09  just a kid: My pun would have been Can't find a bettermann. You know, that song by Pearl Jam...
Mar-07-09  Xeroxx: Good, better, C Best vs W Muir, 1967

Goodman, B Bettermann, C Best

Mar-07-09  Thickasabrick31: Why doesn't white play 16. Qxf3 instead? It allows the g-pawn to remain of a defender of f3 square and if black plays 16. ... g4 17. Qxc6 Bxc6 18. Rxf6 with white coming out a piece ahead or 16. ... Qxf3 17. gxf3 g4 18. Ng1 planning for Nd2 if black puts more pressure on it.
