Aug-16-08  JonathanJ: no kibitzing here? this game has deserved some attention!

the key move Re2!! forces the black queen away from the 2nd rank so white has just enough time for his mating attack! very beautiful combination!

Pawn and Two: <JonathanJ> 25.Re2 was a good move, and as the game was played, the beginning of a nice mating attack. However, Fritz shows that Black has just enough time for a draw, by playing 25...Be6! (.00) (20 ply) 26.Rxe6 Qxd1 27.Ngf5 Rg8 28.Nxg8 Qg4 29.Nxf6 gxf6 30.Rxf6 Nxf6 31.Qxf6+ Kh7.
Aug-07-13  thomastonk: The wonderful move 25.. ♗e6!! is known for a long time. Friedrich Bethge published several problems in the chess column of "Aachener Nachrichten", which was led bei Hans-Hilmar Staudte. On January 15, 1954 he presented there 25.. ♗e6!! under the title "Der Kohinoor des Schachs" (The Koh-i-Noor of chess) with extensive analysis.
