Eggman: Wouldn't 16.Bxf8+ have been better here, e.g. 16...♖xf8 17.♕xf8+ ♔xf8 18.b8/♕+ ♔g7 19.♔d2 (castling is no longer legal) ♗xe2 20.♖e1. Strange that this would be missed in a correspondence game, unless I'm missing something. Perhaps the score is wrong - in any case I'm not sure why Black resigned when he did.

Anyway, a nice opening variation to analyze, as it contains a lot of themes (Queening capturing pawn on KN7, Knight threatening to capture pawn on QB7 with fork of King and Rook, etc.). A lot of wins for White in under 20 moves in this database.

Feb-19-17  sneaky pete: The game is incomplete. Leisebein & Schneider, 500 brandneue Gambitpartien Band 2 (1992) cuts off after 15... Ke7 with "Some moves later 1-0".

After 16.Bg5+ .. white is still winning. 16... Ke8 17.Bh6 .. and if 17... Ke7 the line given by <Eggman>. 15/7... Qxg1+ 16/8.Kd2.. is also winning, states Leisebein. 16... f6 17.Qxf6+ .. or 16... Kd7/Ke6 17.Bxg4+ .. is easy for white.

Feb-19-17  sneaky pete: After 16... Ke6 white can also play 17.Qf6+ Kd7 18.Qxf7+ .. etc.
