Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-29-08  gambitfan: this game is quite similar to Larsen vs S From, 1963

7 ♗d3 and later 11 ♗e2 ...

Wouldn't it have been better to play 7 ♗d2 right away ?

Domdaniel: 5.Nc3 was a Larsen special against From's Gambit - the usual move is 5.d4.

After 5.Nc3 - which has more recently been played and analyzed by Danielsen and Vigus - Black's most challenging reply is 5...Ng4, with sharp play.

5...0-0 6.e3, as in this game and Larsen-From, leaves Black with little compensation for the pawn.

7.Be2, rather than 7.Bd3, has been played (eg Redmond-Prizant, Irish championship 2011), though there are no examples in the database.
