5 ?

Why not 5 e5!

It seems to me the natural move, isn't it ?

Failing to play 4... d6 was a mistake from Black...

Oct-23-07  gambitfan: 5 ♘f3?

5 e5! ♘g8 (no other square available for the black knight)

and White have a strong advantage...

Sep-21-09  Kasparkov: After: 5.Nf3? white doesn't continue his development.. and one of his worse move is when he played his Bishop on d3 square which must be on c4 square..
Mar-24-13  Aditya Bhan: If Black's game was bad, White's was terrible.
Sep-08-14  ForeverHoldYourPiece: Bad games like this is why the morra has a bad name. With 5. e5, white is already +1.50!

FSR: Yes, of course White should have played 5.e5! But this was an under-10 tournament. Give the kid a break.

Dionysius1: SF says there's no difference in value between 5.e5 and the move played.
Dec-23-19  gambitfan: Dubious game.
