Kibitzer's Corner
May-28-05  Whitehat1963: Truly excellent play from both sides of the board, even if it is an odds game. Clearly, playing against Morphy taught Maurian a thing or two about chess! Still, it seems that Morphy loses his way in this one, but I can't figure out where.

ketchuplover: I tried 24.Rxe6 and ended up with Morphy's queen and 3 pawns v. Maurian's 2 rooks and 2 pawns. draw

MissScarlett: Changed the date from <1867> to November 1866. No specific date is given in the <Dubuque Chess Journal>, Jan 1876, but its order amongst the games grouped from November to December 1866 suggests November. Following Morphy vs Maurian, 1866, it could even be November 11th.
