Mar-13-03  Rookpawn: White usually plays the Samisch Attack (5. f3) in order to castle long and begin a fierce attack on Black's King. However, in this game, White chooses a tame continuation involving several exchanges, leading to the drawn endgame.

Sneaky: Agreed. 7.dxe5 was the equivilent of asking for a draw.
Dec-09-06  naamloos: "Zurich International Chess Tournament 1953" by Bronstein mentions the following exchange of words after 8. Qxd8:

'Soon after the position had simplified, Najdorf, who was not at all adverse to a draw, asked his opponent:

"Did you play that move for a draw?"

"Does that mean you played it to win?"

"Mmm ... Partly."

"Maybe you played it to lose?!"

"I played the move which met the needs of the position."

While I will not swear to the literal accuracy of the entire dialogue, I would like to draw the reader's attention to this last retort, which so typifies Boleslavsky's thinking.'
