fredthebear: This aint yo' typical chess game! After some wild play (FTB is no fan of f3's even when logical), it's a cool finish where White calmly declines to exchange rooks and prevents promotion. That crazy-looking White knight (it twas immune from capture for a bit, then returned to the back rank and up again) is still on board!

FTB needs to pop some Rolaids and watch a re-run of "Captain Ron" starring Kurt Russell to clear his head.

fredthebear: Géza Maróczy was thought of as an accurate defensive player. Capablanca heaped high praise on Maróczy for his skill, accuracy, and teaching ability (He served as a teacher for world champions Max Euwe and Vera Menchik!) having led Hungary to the first Olympiad victory and just missing a title shot against Lasker. That suggestive style is somewhat difficult for FTB to imagine judging from this robust Maróczy variation of the Elephant Gambit.

Maróczy airs it out in this game, one of his more famous "victories": Janowski vs Maroczy, 1900
