Jan-11-06  notsodeepthought: Apparently Savon showed up ten days later - he had not realized the game was scheduled according to the Grigorian calendar.
Jan-11-06  hayton3: Grigorian drank pepsi while waiting because he couldn't get Savon up in time for the match.
Jan-11-06  notsodeepthought: Before the game Savon tried to fortify himself with a potent brew, Ashoto'vich knocked him out.
Jan-12-06  hayton3: <notsodeepthought> <Ashoto'vich knocked him out> Very clever
Jan-12-06  notsodeepthought: Thanks - it was a bit of a stretch perhaps, but anyhow ... and "couldn't get Savon up" was brilliant.
Sep-05-06  hidude: h4 wins!!

Honza Cervenka: When Grigorian played 1.h4 he had to be perfectly sure that his opponent is not going to appear on the the other side of board that day.
Oct-19-06  Karpova: Savon was lazy like a Bone not showing up for the game
Oct-25-06  rsl: That sure was an instructive game! I'm probably going to use that awesome 1. h4!! move in my next game.
Dec-08-06  kellmano: Clearly the reason black resigned is that he could not find a satisfactory defence to Rh3.
Mar-24-08  D.Observer: After all, what's shocking with this?
Jun-13-08  ravel5184: How to Win as White
Sep-01-08  Funicular: This would be a good sunday puzzle
Sep-15-08  DoubleCheck: h4 is too passive for my liking although it does steer away from the 'standard' e4 / d4 games

Jan-16-09  WhiteRook48: wow, that'd be funny.
1. ?
answer: 1. h4!! I'm going to play that next time.
What if Black plays 1...d5? white couldn't play 2. Rh3 because of 2...Bxh3... but then Black loses after 3. gxh3 because it was giveaway chess!
Oct-10-09  Cercatore: he's brave i see
Dec-11-10  blazerdoodle: Okay, I started reading the blog before I looked at the game. Now that I've analyzed it, I can understand it better.

Almost five years after your post, I have to give you credit. This was really funny.

perfidious: Most impressive; in playing 1.h4 straight away, Grigorian won far more quickly than Nimzowitsch in the following game after 1.e4 e6 2.h4: Nimzowitsch vs Systemsson, 1927.

*Takes out notebook* aich four...
Apr-17-12  siggemannen: So, what did actually happened? Since savon was back in the next round I guess?
Aug-06-13  GumboGambit: Why not 1 . . Nf6?
Apr-27-16  posoo: DATS RITE. Dis is how you INTIMMADATE your opponunt. NO ONE wants to play da dubbel rooks blast! Sometimes when da posoo plays it in parks da people get ANGRY and REFUSE to play! But dat is da point - get da sluggos ANGRY!

As I have said many times before - CHESSE is for FUN and for SMASHING

Feb-04-17  siggemannen: Noone knows the reason for this short game?
