  fredthebear: 12...Nd3+ is a "smothered check"; it's not mate. The e2-pawn is absolutely pinned so the invading knight cannot be captured. After 13.Kd1, it's common for Nxf2+ to win the cornered rook, but in this case it's 13...Nxb2+ to win the unprotected White queen on the flank.
Dec-20-20  sneaky pete: White is not J. Rascher but Joerg Roscher and the game type is not classical but correspondence. Leisebein & Schneider, 500 brandneue Gambitpartien, 1990, game 20.
