Jul-23-18  SpiritedReposte: Great pawn play. <24. e5!> just in time for e6+ if the knight is captured.

<32. g4!> Making sure to get connected passers no matter what.

plang: 8 Nc3 is the main line; Dreev's 8 Bf4 is a sideline that leads to some very sharp complications. Earlier in 2002 at Moscow Dreev had played 18 Bc7 against Emelin and Black had quickly equalized and then had then gone on to win the game; 18 Be5 was Dreev's improvement. 24..fxe 25 Nxe4+..Ke7 26 f4 would have been awkward for Black but might have been better than what he played. 29..gxf 30 Ng7+..Kxe5 31 Rxe7+..Kf6 32 Rb7..Rg8 33 Nd5+..Kg5 34 Rg7+ would have been winning for White.

A very nice game by Dreev.
