Nov-04-02  bishop: The e5 pawn was a thorn in Black's position that hindered his development. White built up his position behind this pawn, when it was finally exchanged, White used his superiority on the king file for decisive penetration.
Nov-04-02  Danilomagalhaes: In French opening we can see more times an e5 pawn, not in Ruy Lopez games. It´s very boring for black because it takes the natural square for the "horse"(f6), that can defend the h7 point. If we see old games with French opening, we can see sacrifices of Bishops at this point, winning the game in few moves. The game Ed. Lasker--Thomas doesn´t have Nf6, and a queen was sacrificed at h7. Sorry for the horrible English...
