suenteus po 147: I will say this about Korchnoi: The man certainly knows how to use his bishops!
Dec-16-05  MadBishop: 4rm al of korchnoi's games i think that he has an energy that few others can compare to. Tal himself said that korchnoi was his most challenging opponent. And he just seems to improve with age!!
Dec-16-05  aw1988: Like a fine wine or cheese. Or a statue, which increases in stature. Or a fine chess game. Or a wife, that talks excessively. She either goes deaf, or she cannot speak, or she dies.

Phony Benoni: <J.MASSANET>: Does this link work for you?

May-03-14  Mating Net: 6...f6 is premature. The text move continues to increase the pressure on d4. The time for ...f6 is after 0-0 when the Rook is ready to take advantage of the semi open f file.

perfidious: As John Nunn astutely noted, the worst time in the world to face a strong opponent in a Swiss is in the last round.

HeMateMe: Rikky, 2200, was a bit outgunned here.
May-04-14  Everett: <mating net> 6..f6 seems playable

S Kristjansson vs Caruana, 2011

May-15-14  Mating Net: <Everett> I hear you my man and I certainly wouldn't dream of dissing Caruana for his choice of moves. My point in saying that 6…f6 is premature is that Black can increase the pressure on d4 by maneuvering the Knight to f5 via h6. Black's primary goal in combating the French Advance is pressure on the d4 pawn since it is no longer defended by a friendly pawn.

I actually kibitzed the Caruana game you posted and complimented him on a fine victory. In my chess thought process, it just made more sense to merely delay the move …f6 as Korchnoi did.
