Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-12-04  ChessPraxis: With 52. Kd6 White must have thought he was on the verge of mating Black. Instead, he's really just walking into a fork. I assume he must have been in time pressure. Black's 51st move is threatening a fork so White should have been especially alert to the danger.
Mar-12-04  drukenknight: right, its not like he's walking into it since the threat is already there. Either time pressure or he was distracted by Miss Menchik's looks.
Mar-13-04  meloncio: It's more than just a fork, it's all a checkmate.

Did you know that Vera Menchik died in London 1944, after a German attack by V2 rocket?

Mar-13-04  slapwa: (Sir Theodore) Tylor wasnít distracted by matters visual. He was a law tutor at Balliol who became President of the Royal National Institution for the Blind. He is the model for Pargetter in Robertson Daviesí book, The Manticore.
