Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-30-04  Knight13: 8... h6 and 9... g5?! is not really good because it transfer to black with weak Castle defence. 7... h6 might have helped. As you see, from move 22, black has a big hole on the king side, and it's dangerous. Black lost, yes I agree.
Aug-06-06  InspiredByMorphy: Morphy's notes :
" 12...Bxf3 would certainly have been preferable. if 13.Qg6+ Kh8 14.Qxh6+ Nh7 15.gxf3 Nxd4 and Black's game is quite as good as his antagonist's."

Oct-31-07  bitstream5: i am missing something obvious as a newbie or maybe it is too late in the day for analysis. why suggest 13. Qg6+ if it may be followed by fxg6. Why wouldnt black take the queen on g6 with his pawn??? instead of following Morphy's suggested line proceeding ...Kh8?
Oct-31-07  InspiredByMorphy: <bitstream5> 13. ...fxg6 is an illegal move.
Apr-15-08  Pawnkeeper: 13.....fxg6 is a perfectly legal move, not illegal.
Apr-15-08  jrlepage: <Pawnkeeper> Not if the black king is still on g8, which is what Morphy's analysis suggests.
Apr-21-08  Pawnkeeper: Oh, I'm looking at the position with the king on g7.
Aug-08-09  just a kid: This is a good example of what happenens when you weaken your kingside when you king is in the premises!
Feb-01-12  Knight13: A better move for Black would be 11... c6 followed by ... Nd7-b6.
