Feb-02-06  sneaky pete: The Lichtenscheidt Attack at its finest.

An Englishman: Good Evening: The Lichtenscheidt Attack Double Deferred (or doubly duffer?) might be a more accurate name, as the true attack is 1.a3 and 2.h3.

White takes a few liberties with the position. Bit of an understatement, that. 7.b5 might have been better; 6.exd4,exd4; 7.Bd3!? looks like one of Buchner's defenses with colors reversed.

23...Rf2? was the only bad move on the board: while 23...Nxg4 might be good, I would choose 23...Nc4 instead. *Now* ...Rf2 is a threat, as the Nf4 trick can be met with ...Bd6Xf4.

Feb-24-09  WhiteRook48: the 1. a3 move at its best. Anderssen would be proud!
Jul-18-17  Serpentin: A joke whiterook i hope....????

An Englishman: Good Afternoon: Perhaps not, <Serpentin>. Having beaten a master rated 350 points higher, I attest that Anderssen's Attack can pack a punch. Indeed, he scored +1, -1, =1 vs. Morphy, not a bad result!
