Aug-12-03  PVS: I believe that Kramnik was hoping for something after 6...d5, but not the text move. Any ideas?
Aug-12-03  Ashley: Kramnik would have been pleased with 7.exd 0-0 8.0-0 Re8 9.Re1 Qd6 10.Nd3 Bg4 11.Rxe8+ Rxe8 12. Qf1 Nxc2...

Gypsy: <11.O-O...> See V Datsvich vs B Fairsbury, 1998 for what may have been Black's intensions in case of <11.f4>.

plang: The standard response to 6 Nxe5 was
6..Qe7 and 6..0-0 leading to equality. The gambit 6..d5!? had been introduced in the game Spangenberg-Thachiev at Villa Martelli 1997 which ended in a quick win for Black after 7 Nxd5..Nxd5 8 Qh5?..g6 9 Nxg6..Nxc2+ 10 Kf1..Qf6
11 f3..hxg 12 Qd5..Rh5 and White resigned. 10 f4 was not possible because of 10..Rxe5 11 fxe..Qh4+ 12 Kf1..Bg4 and ..Be2+ winning for Black. Perhaps 15 Qa4 would have maintained a small advantage for White.
Nov-08-11  vigusmao: What about 9. O-O? Looks playable, doesn't it?
Nov-08-11  vigusmao: I mean... 9. 0-0 in the game Shirov-Kramnik... anyone ever seen/tried this line?

louispaulsen88888888: 15.Qa4 looks good and white has good chances.
Aug-08-21  spaceisgreat: Engine gives white a sizable edge after 17. Rad1 which is interesting as 15. Qa4 seems to be the suggested improvement.
