fredthebear: What about Black continuing with 30...RxBg2 31.KxRg2 Rd8 (or Rg8+) and maneuver the lone rook with threats on the file, perhaps snatching a backward pawn on a light square. If the rook could get to the two white pawns on the a-file (alleviating defense of Black's h7 pawn), Black has a chance. If White does not accept the sacrifice on g2 and instead plays 31.BxRh8, then 31...Ra2 with the same plan of cleaning up the a-file.

fredthebear: My previous post was rash. Rd8 is a closed file so it does not help; it should not have been mentioned, perhaps a typo. Both Re8 and Rg8 fall victim to a knight fork+ w/Kc8. The plan of a lone Black rook penetrating and snatching backward White pawns is OK, but there's no safe way to execute it. The exchange sacrifice 30...RxBg2 was interesting to consider.

Fredthebear has self-corrected, a good trait for all God's creatures to have.
