Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-14-04  zb2cr: The prettiest part of this miniature is what would have happened if Black tried to play on. Seems like 9 ... ♖e8 is the only way to avoid immediate mate. So then 10 ♕xf7+, ♔h8; 11 ♖xh7+, ♔xh7; 12 ♕h5#.
Aug-16-04  suds: ok well put.. i am exploring this opening contact me for comments
Mar-02-05  InspiredByMorphy: A better continuation for black would be 7. ...d5 8.exd5 Nxd5 9.Qf3 Be6 10.Nxe6 fxe6 although black then has doubled pawns.

7...d5 8. gxf6 Bxf2+ (if 8...Qxf6 then 9. d4, with complications; if 8...dxc4 then 9. Qh5 wins) 9. Kxf2 Qxf6+ 10. Ke1 dxf4 11. Qh5 Qh6 12. Qxh6 gxh6 13. Rxh6.

Dec-15-05  aerohacedor: The lesson here is never castle when there is a knight on g5.

Nonsense. 5....O-O is the only feasible way of defending f7.

In Comprehensive Chess Course Volume II Roman Pelts and Lev Alburt recommend 7....d6 and developing.

Sep-26-07  wolfmaster: 7...d5 gives Black about equal chances.
Mar-03-08  D.Observer: The knight at h7 was at risk. 10. Qxh7 is threatening. If the knight moves, the queen just goes through. The best way to continue is <<according to <zb2cr>> 9. ... Re8 10. Qxf7+ Kh8 11. Rxh7+ Kxh7 12. Qh5#.> I think that's behind NN's resignation.
Dec-05-08  WhiteRook48: Baaaad... I wonder when will NN kibitz on this...
Jan-29-09  WhiteRook48: nice double mate threat
Jan-31-09  WhiteRook48: 4...h6 might be better
Jan-06-10  antharis: Looks like some kind of reversed fishpole-trap in the Italian to me.
Nov-21-17  Donkey255: <<anatharis> said <4...h6> might be better.Nonsense!>
