Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-12-07  Maynard5: This is a nice game for players who enjoy the French defense. Black initially blockades the queenside with 9... c4 and castles queenside, where his king is safer. Black's blockading moves, 15. ... g6 and 16. ... h5 slow White's action on the kingside. The position is probably equal until White's ill-advised attempt at a breakthrough with 21. ... f5? Over the next few moves, Black is able to develop threats on the g-file. After the simplification, White's pawns are weak, while Black has a passed pawn on the a-file.
